ROSEAU, Dominica, (CMC) – Guyana secured a resounding victory while hosts Dominica failed to secure a point when the Caribbean Football Union Boys’ Under-17 tournament finished here Saturday.
In the third and final round of competition at the Windsor Park Stadium, Guyana thrashed Aruba 7-0 to finish on top of the points standings.
The Guyanese lads dominated the encounter from start to finish scoring three goals in the first half of play while four came in the second period.
For Guyana, Randy Persaud and Kerwyn Benjamin netted two goals apiece, while one goal each came from Domini Garnett, Sherwyn Lewis and Pernell Schultz.
Dominica, meanwhile, finished rock bottom of the table after losing their final match 3-1 at the hands of the Netherlands Antilles.
Liandro Martis, Giancarlo Roch and Jimbertson Vapor all scored to hand the Dutch an uncomplicated win while Joel Prince scored the lone goal for Dominica.
Although Guyana and the Netherlands Antilles finished on seven points each, Guyana topped the group by virtue of having a better goal difference.
Aruba finished in third place with three points, while Dominica occupied the bottom of the table, having failed to secure a single point.
