Bail reduced for illegal gun, ammo defendant

JUSTICE Brassington Reynolds yesterday reduced the bail, from $1M to $250,000, for Gavin Christopher Gill, 22, who is charged with being in illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. The judge acted on a petition, from the defendant’s wife, Lalita Gill, presented in the Berbice High Court.
Gill, of Auchlyne, Corentyne, was ordered to post the $1M in the lower Court.
In her affidavit, presented through attorney-at-law Ms. Kim Kyte-John, the petitioner said her husband joined a car at Rosignol Ferry Stelling, West Bank Berbice, on his way home but it was stopped by Police at a roadblock on Rose Hall Public Road.
She said, after it was searched, the occupants were taken to the Police outpost in the area and it was alleged that a .38 revolver and six matching rounds were found in the vehicle.
Before making his decision, the judge also heard State Counsel Dionne Mc Cammon.
