Body pulled from city canal still unidentified

THE man, whose body was pulled out of the Irving Street canal on Thursday was still unidentified up to press time yesterday and is at Lyken Funeral Parlour.
The discovery of the deceased, of African descent, was made about 10:50 h, by two boys who were trying to retrieve a ball from the waterway between Vlissegen Road and Irving Street, also in Georgetown,
The victim was clad in a pair of cream checkered pants with a black belt and brown ‘Timberland’ boots.
Investigators searched the dead man’s pockets and found a string of keys, a cell phone, some money and other things, including a piece of paper, as he was clutching $20 and $100 notes in his hands.

Unconfirmed reports said he had been dumped shortly after 05:00 h, earlier that morning, by a group of men who sped away in a motor car.
He may not have drowned and could have been the victim of foul play.
