At installation meeting…
THE Inner Wheel Club of Georgetown, at its meeting on Tuesday last to install the 2010-2011 Executive Committee, announced a new motto ‘To Commit with Conviction, Compassion and Consistency’. Speaking at the evening function, in Guyana Red Cross Society headquarters, Kingston, Georgetown, outgoing Club President, Mrs. Dorothy Fraser said the primary concern of the organisation has always been to support persons coping with misfortunes countrywide.
The main activity for the evening was the installation of new President, Mrs. Barbara Walrond and other committee members.
Accepting the position, Walrond said she plans to continue working in accordance with the objectives of the club.
She applauded the efforts of the outgoing committee and congratulated Fraser for all of her hard work and dedication during her tenure, especially for the club’s 25th anniversary celebrations last March.
Walrond reassured the membership of her commitment to ensure that the club continues to progress throughout the coming year.
She said: “Today I am beginning the second phase of the next 25 years of service to humanity.”
The club also made donations to several charitable organisations that evening, in keeping with the annual tradition.
Chairperson Mrs. Yvonne Hinds, who received on behalf of Guyana Relief Council (GRC), expressed her gratitude to the donor club, noting that the contribution would enhance the Council’s ability to carrying out its mandate.
The first activity for the new period to be hosted by the club is set for July 25.
Formed on October 16, 1984, the club was registered on January 2, 1985 and got its charter on March 16, 1985.
The Founder President, Mrs. Mayleen Davis, who is still an active member, will remain a committee member.
