TWO men are in police custody on suspicion of distributing documents related to the CN Sharma ‘carnal knowledge’ case currently before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. There are also reports about the police having in their possession a tape containing evidence of CN Sharma making contact with witnesses listed to testify in the said case. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the men may have received the documents for distribution by a female associated with a local NGO organization.
Three days ago, there were suspicions of Political activist Mark Benschop attempting to pervert and obstruct the course of justice in the CN Sharma carnal knowledge case.
Legal observers had questioned Benschop’s motive for the claims he advanced on his website, guyanaobservernews.org about the mother and daughters who are State witnesses in the CN Sharma case.
Police are investigating.
