I would like the public to know that when you have reached the age of 60 years and over if the government will not allow you to donate blood or pay contributions. But if you are not getting NIS pension or no other pension, except old age pension, which is small and cannot support you, you will have to get a job and at 60 years and over and the only job available is security job.
I believe that senior citizens should not pay any tax in the form of PAYE because we have worked hard and build this beautiful country Guyana and we need a break from paying taxes in our old age; and all monies that was paid as PAYE should be repaid to all persons over 60 years that are/were affected.
I am sure that they need it badly, since the cost of living is hurting all of us and self-employed Guyanese over the age of 60 should be exempted from paying taxes.
