Of two larceny defendants…
A MAID, 19 years old, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday on a simple larceny charge.
Shevone Rodney, of Lot 55 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said , on June 6, she stole one ‘Blackberry’ cellular phone valued $100,000, a charger priced at $2,000 and $3,000, all belonging to Mark Anthony Barrow.
The virtual complainant, who was in Court, said, since he hired the defendant, it is not the first time things have gone missing from his home and she is known for taking things without asking.
Rodney was on $70,000 bail until July 20.
She was one of two defendants similarly charged in the same Court.
The other, 45-year-old Ravindra Persaud (no address given) denied that he had stolen $150,000 from Christopher Persaud on June 8.
But he said, after he collected the money for his employer, he was informed that his wife is very ill and he used some of the cash to look after her health.
Persaud said he will repay the sum and was given, until June 24, to make restitution.
Until then, he is on $50,000 bail.
