DWARKA Gangadin called Dave, who is charged with the murder of his wife, Bridgette Gangadin, made a second appearance before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus yesterday, at Vigilance Court, East Coast Demerara. He was further remanded to prison, until July 15, after Police Corporal Shawn Clement, prosecuting, said the file is not ready for the commencement of the preliminary inquiry (PI) into the charge.
The Prosecutor, requesting more time, explained that the documentation had to be sent back to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for more advice after Police ranks investigating the case raised a number of points.
Mrs. Pamela De Santos, for the Defence, made an application to have a vehicle belonging to the accused released from Police custody, on the suspicion that parts from it may soon begin to disappear.
However, the Prosecutor objected to the request, stating that the vehicle is part of the ongoing investigation which it not yet complete.
He informed that, when the PI begins on the next court date, the Prosecution proposes to call at least 19 witnesses.
Other attorney-at-law, Mr. Basil Williams, who is looking into the interest of relatives of the deceased, was also present in courtroom.
The remanded prisoner, 34, of Lot 3 ‘E’ Lusignan Public Road, first appeared at Cove and John Court, also on East Coast Demerara, last May 12, after the victim was found on the roadway at Vigilance, on May 2, with her head crushed.
