MINER Seaforth Obermuller, 21, of Wakapoa, Pomeroon, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on a murder charge yesterday. The accused was remanded to prison and the case has been transferred to Bartica Court for June 9.

It is alleged that the prisoner murdered Elson Prince on May 23 after the two of them had been drinking at a shop.

Obermuller told the Court that, when they left the place, Prince followed and beat him with a piece of wood for no reason and he retaliated by lashing the victim thrice.  (Nathalene DeFreitas)
