MICHAEL Patoir (no address given) was granted $150,000 bail yesterday after the date of the alleged burglary, with which he is charged, was amended by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
Particulars of the charge, to which the defendant pleaded guilty, originally said the offence was committed during the night of April 6 when he broke and entered the dwelling house of Dawn Moore and stole one laptop computer, a DVD player, a cell phone, a wrist watch, jewellery and other property, all valued $423,000.
But attorney-at-law Mr. Ronald Burch-Smith, for the Defence, said the Police, initially, informed Patoir that it happened on May 17 but, when he turned up in Court, he was told April 6.
Defence Counsel said, however, that, on April 5, the defendant was at a party which lasted until 04:00 h the following day.
The virtual complainant, who was in Court, confirmed that the break-in took place on May 17 and Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, made a successful application for the change to be made.
The case will be called, again, on July 16.
