WINNERS in the recently concluded Trophy Stall sponsored Guyana Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA) organised doubles tennis tournament were recently presented with their prizes at a simple ceremony held in the Cambo Room of the Georgetown Sports Club.
Prior to the presentation of the prizes, president of the GLTA Christopher Ram said that the absence of a majority of the awardees was a disappointing gesture on their part, which give an enthusiastic insight into their commitment towards the development of the sport.
Also making brief remarks was Director of Sports in the National Sports Commission (NSC) Neil Kumar who commended the GLTA for the progress they have made, while speaking highly of Ram’s investment approach towards the governance of the sport.
“The NSC and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports are dedicated towards the development of sports in Guyana and with such in mind, we have no hesitation in assisting the GLTA in their pursuits in whatever way we can.
One of the reasons I have begged for money for the GLTA, is because I believe it has a qualitative stakeholder and the many commitments we have been making towards the sport which includes the erection of two tennis courts and the donation of equipment will not stop there.”
The various category winners each received a trophy compliments of Trophy Stall in Bourda Market.
