The Indian Arrival Committee (IAC) has expressed deep concern over a recent increase in violent crimes in Guyana, and is calling on law enforcement agencies to not relent in their efforts to rid the society of all criminal elements,
“The Indian Arrival Committee (IAC) wishes to express its profound concern over the spate of crimes perpetrated on unsuspecting citizens,” a statement from the IAC said last evening.
“ The IAC has noted the recent increase in violent crimes some of which resulted in fatalities”, the statement continued.
“ The IAC calls on the authority to work diligently in bringing those responsible to justice so as to prevent the difficulties which existed a few years ago.
“ The IAC, like other organisations and the general citizenry, is mindful of the atrocities meted out to victims of the heinous crimes during that period and would not want Guyanese to experience such brutality again.
“ The IAC, while recognising the efforts of those in the Law Enforcement fraternity in combating crime, urges that they do not relent in their efforts to rid the society of criminal elements bent on instilling fear in the minds of innocent Guyanese.
“ The IAC, while cognisant of the many challenges faced by Law Enforcement functionaries, calls on those tasked with ensuring public safety to utilise all necessary skills whilst conducting thorough investigations which must lead to the arrest of those involved.
“ The IAC would like to take this opportunity to extend its condolences to the surviving victims and relatives of those who lost loved ones at the hands of heartless criminals,” the statement concluded.
