FORTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD Terry Abrams (no address given) was yesterday remanded to prison on a fraudulent conversion charge. He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson and pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, last January 4, being solely entrusted with gold jewellery worth $207,000, by Felecia Glasgow, he fraudulently converted the pieces to his own use and benefit.
Abrams claimed he had an intimate relationship with the virtual complainant who sold the jewels, while he was sick, to help him get better.
He said she made the allegation against him, out of jealousy, because she saw him with another woman.
But Glasgow said he offered to get the jewels cleaned and she gave them to him but he failed to return them on her request.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail, informing the Court that Abrams has similar charges pending.
Abrams has to make another appearance on June 3.
