GPF athletes have good outing at T&T Police Force Championships

THE Guyana Police Force fielded a team of four athletes who served as their representatives at the Trinidad and Tobago Police Force’s Annual Athletics Championships which were held over the past week from May 2 to 8 in the twin island republic. Larry Josiah, Michael Saul, Michael Pollydore and lone female Leota Bobb were accompanied by Louis Crawford, also of the Guyana Police Force, on the resoundingly successful campaign which saw Bobb and Josiah claim the titles of best male and female overseas athletes.
Josiah, who was the distance extraordinaire on the team, competed in and won the male 800m, 1500m and 3 000m events. He was just as dominant off the track as he also claimed the 5km road race.
Bobb competed on the opposite facet of the track and field spectrum and dominated all, as she was unstoppable as usual in the sprints. She, like Josiah, was undefeated in all of her events, managing to cop the 100m, 200m and 400m events. Bobb also won the invitational 100m.
National Champion sprinter Michael Saul was no different than always in competition. He ran away with wins in the 60m, 100m and 200m sprints while Michael Pollydore came through as the field point man on the team. He won the shot put and the discus throws and placed fourth in the javelin.
