Corporate entities commit to helping Theatre Guild

THE Theatre Guild, in a statement yesterday, has revealed that three corporate bodies – the Republic Bank (Guyana) Ltd., Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company Ltd. and Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry  Ltd. have signalled their interest in becoming corporate members through an annual contribution that allows the organization to fund its programmes.

The statement said this is in response to the Guild’s Corporate Outreach, offering the business community and international organizations the opportunity to invest in the programmes facilitated by the Guild.
A formal handing over ceremony is scheduled to be held tomorrow afternoon at the Theatre Guild Playhouse in Kingston, at 17:00 hrs.
In its heyday in the sixties and seventies, the Guild produced  a wide array of theatrical offerings and was the training ground for some of the leading artistic luminaries of Guyana and the Caribbean, among whom are Wordsworth MacAndrew, Ken Corsbie, Michael Gilkes, Eugene Williams, Henry Mootoo, Pat Cameron, Ron Robinson and Margaret Lawrence.
