The Diplomat Magazine’s award for “Distinguished Contribution to Diplomacy” was conferred on His Excellency Laleshwar Singh, Guyana’s High Commissioner to London at the Magazine’s annual event held on Wednesday, 28th April, 2010. The occasion was hosted by Lord Digby Jones  who presented ten awards to High Commissioners, Ambassadors and other diplomatic representatives in the United Kingdom.

Prior to presenting the award which was accepted on the High Commissioner’s behalf by Ms Marion Herbert, in her capacity as Acting High Commissioner, Lord Digby noted that there was no dissension among the members of the selecting panel when His Excellency’s nomination was presented.  He cited among the High Commissioner’s accomplishments his role in promoting Guyana’s position on environmental issues and his valuable contribution as Dean of Commonwealth High Commissioners. High Commissioner Singh is currently away on vacation.

Diplomat is a foreign affairs magazine which contains analysis, political commentary on world affairs, interviews with Ambassadors, stimulates discussion from the diplomatic community in London, and aims at providing an insight into the minds of prominent world leaders and governments.
