I was disgusted by the sight of a horse with a slit stomach on the road. This gruesome sight turned the stomach of many who saw it. Is this how cruel people have become? I do not know how it happened, but none seemed interested in assisting the horse.
Years ago we heard about the animal protection agency, which strived to save animals from being strayed on the roads and elsewhere, because of the amount of animal causalities.
Where is this agency now? The animals need more protection now more than ever. This group needs to be more active in doing their job.
Many times there are dogs, cats, horses, cows and sheep on the roadways wandering. When these animals are left to roam, they cause accidents.
This is where the animal protection group should be working. They should be doing campaigns that would make animal owners more concerned about the safety of their animals.
Animal owners need to be given information about animal care and safety. It is known that animals tend to react when they hear loud noises and this can be harmful.
Even the motorists need to be more cautious on the roads because of these wandering animals.
More stringent steps should be placed for further protection of animals, not just those animals that are endangered but also those animals that assist people in their everyday lives.
The law that was just reactivated is one such step; however the animals would just be rounded up and placed in a pound. The concern here is that, would the animals be properly taken care of when they are released to their owners?
The main fact that the stray animals would be caught and placed in a pound, is however a good initiative.
