I would like to congratulate President Bharrat Jagdeo on achieving the 2010 Champions of the Earth Award that was granted by the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) recently in South Korea. As a citizen, I am extremely proud of President Jagdeo for his efforts and initiatives towards preserving and utilizing the forest resources in a manner, which is now duly recognized.
I applaud his outstanding international leadership on combating climate change and his pioneering model on low carbon economic development.
The President has chartered the path for Guyana through his brave and confident efforts with the low carbon development strategy (LCDS).
However, the assistance and cooperation of the citizens of Guyana are greatly needed for this to work.
I would like to encourage His Excellency to continue the good work which has made Guyana and the rest of the world proud.
