TWENTY-SEVEN-YEAR-OLD Tajnarine Basdeo, of Lot 77 Mon Repos Pasture, is in a serious condition at the Accident Ward of Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), after being hit by a speeding motor car on Mon Repos Public Road, East Coast Demerara, last Saturday night.
The carpenter/mason was unconscious when admitted to the institution and is being treated for severe head injuries, a fractured neck, broken right hand and a broken left leg.
His distraught father, Dhanraj Basdeo said the family had been to a wedding reception in D’Jango Town, Mon Repos but Tajnarine left before him.
It was about 23:00 h when a neighbour led him to the accident scene from where his son had been taken to hospital by the driver of the vehicle involved, the older Basdeo reported.
He said is grateful to the doctors and other staff at the hospital who did their best to save the life of his only son among three children.
Yesterday, the patient was being fed intravenously and was conscious, although experiencing great pain.
