IT hurts my heart to witness immensely the negativistic letter writing campaign against Ms. Syeada Manbodh. It appears that the campaign is orchestrated by a noise nuisance in the area where she lives. From experience, I know that noise makers always believe it is their human and democratic right to make money at anyone’s inconvenience, or to their joy, and to hell with everyone else in the neighbourhood. They take great annoyance at people who tell them to tone down or report to the police, they will even lie to all and sundry, making it appear as if the noise maker is the victim.
Ms. Manbodh is truly most humane and remarkable young lady. Yes, I have seen her at nights and days, in the alleyways, roadways, by the seawall, residential areas, even Tiger Bay, Albouystown, looking for hungry or injured dogs and cats to feed. Ordinary people will think she is crazy, but she is a true human being. Once one lives and breathes, one feels the pangs of hunger. Recently someone hit and broke the legs of a stray dog that lingered by the office, and which is fed by our ranks. One can just witness the pain in the poor animal, a living creature, created by the system God set in train for procreation. All I could have said is that: “whoever is responsible for this will one day suffer with pain or injury to their own legs. Heaven or hell is twice, in this dunya (world) and the hereafter.” I asked my ranks to transport the animal to the GSPCA and let do with it as they would.
There are two types of syringes, one for injection into the veins of animals of humans, and one for feeding pups, or ill beings. Are the detractors bereft of sense? Those who know not please shut up. It was the late Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham who used to say (maybe a quote from a historical figure or his own): he who knows not, and knows not that he knows not, is indeed a fool. I have always been amazed at his style of public speaking and talent for quotes. I still remember the note and sound of it in my ears.
If anything, the President of this country should confer on Miss Manbodh, Guyana’s National Award for Service to Animals or Humanity. Service to animals is service to humanity or love and dedication to animals. And yes, it is better to neuter the wild animals than allow them to fester and grow to their own detriment and that of our human, and at times, yet inhumane society. The Religion of Islam teaches: “a Muslim cannot go to bed knowing their neighbour is hungry.” Yes, it does not say a hungry Muslim, or Human, it says; “his neighbour.” It refers to all living creatures: dogs, cats, birds, name them and it refers to them.
Once Ms. Manbodh drew my attention at cruelty to one of my dogs by an employee of mine, and I offered a national apology for the “buck stops with me in my company.” We must cherish our citizens of the likes of Syeada. Certain people are born for certain duties, blessed by the creator to accomplish his needs. Light a candle people, don’t curse the darkness.
Syeada Manbodh a true patriot
