GUYANA Middleweight Boxing Champion Howard Eastman, known as the ‘Battersea Bomber’, 40, was denied bail Monday when he appeared before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo and pleaded not guilty to a drug trafficking charge.
At New Amsterdam Court, the defendant, who won 46 of his 52 professional bouts, was arrested when Police, acting on information received, went to his Canefield Settlement home, in East Canje, also in Berbice, last Saturday.
A search of the house, in which the former British Commonwealth Middleweight title holder lived, yielded a black plastic bag that contained portions of the prohibited cannabis (marijuana) plant, weighing 100 grammes, Police said.
The pugilist is expected to make another Court appearance on April 30.
