GDF continue unbeaten run in GFF Super League

THE Guyana Defence Force (GDF) football team continued their unbeaten streak in the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) `Win in CONCACAF with CONCACAF” Super League with a 2-0 win over Seawall FC on Sunday at the GFC ground.

Victoria Kings registered their first victory in the competition by recording a 5-1 win against Bartica’s Liquid Gold.
Playing at the GFC ground, Delroy Deen put GDF ahead in the 16th minute and 10 minutes later, Stellon David doubled the score which remained unchanged at the end of the first session.
After the interval, the soldiers marched all over their opponents but were unable to increase their lead as the opposition’s defence stood the test of time and withstood all that the army’s combatants had to offer.
Seawall FC were also guilty of poor finishing which was due mainly to over-dribbling and shooting instead of passing off the ball.
Playing at the Enmore ground, on the East Coast Demerara, Pierre Joseph netted a double in the 16th and 80th minutes while Seon Robinson, Aubrey Gibson and Kwesi DeSouza all found the back of Liquid Gold’s net in the 9th, 42nd and 87th minutes respectively.
Liquid Gold’s solitary goal came off the boot of Dwayne Blake in the 63rd minute.
GDF, with their victory on Sunday, advance to 10 points from four matches.
To date they have won three, drawn one and scored seven goals while conceding one for a goal difference of plus six.
Alpha United are second in the points standing with nine points from three matches. They won all three and scored 12 goals while conceding three.
Buxton United are third with eight points from five matches.
So far they have won two, drawn two and lost one with seven goals for and four against.
Next in the points standing are Milerock with nine points from five matches, but they have won three of the five matches, while losing two. They have four goals for and five against.
Victoria Kings are next with four points from four matches. They won one, lost one and drew two. They scored eight goals and conceded seven.
Liquid Gold are next with four points from four matches. They also won one, lost one and drew two with five goals for and seven against.
Next are Rosignol United with four points from four matches. They won one, lost one and drew two, with three goals for and six against.
Sunburst Camptown have three points from three matches. They won one and lost the other two. They scored five goals and conceded four.
Seawall FC and Topp XX are next in the points standing with three points each, having won one match each from four appearances. However, Seawall scored one goal and conceded four, while Topp XX scored one and conceded five.
Meanwhile, Super League action will continue tomorrow at the GFC ground with one match.
