MINISTRY OF LABOUR, HUMAN SERVICES AND SOCIAL SECURITY OCCUPATIONAL SAFEY AND HEALTH MONTH 2010 MESSAGE

Guyana joins the world in observing April 2010 as Occupational Safety and Health Month, with April 28, being World Occupational Safety and Health Day.
In keeping with the International Labour Organisation’s guidelines, World Day for Safety and Health at Work on April 28 promotes the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally. It is an awareness-raising campaign intended to focus international attention on the magnitude of the problem and on how
promoting and creating a safety and health culture can help reduce the number of work-related deaths and injuries.
In observance of this, the Ministry of Labour, Human Services and Social Security will be conducting a number of activities, including an awareness campaign aimed at sensitising the general public about the importance of observing safety and health protocols in the workplace
