GPL donates more than 400 kites to children around the city

The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) yesterday distributed more than 400 kites to children in several city wards for the upcoming Easter holidays.
Divisional Director of Finance, Sabrina Rampersaud told reporters yesterday that, the power company’s intention was to bring cheer to children for the Easter holidays, as well as, to lighten up GPL’s image.
And of course every recipient was warned against flying the seasonal contraptions away from power lines.
Rampersaud was at the time, distributing kites and tokens to a group of excited children in the Tiger Bay area.
GPL visited Albouystown, Sophia, Tiger Bay, and Shaheed’s Orphanage, all in the city, where they handed out kites.
After receiving the kites, the children told the media that they can now go and fly their kites with their family and friends and also thanked GPL for the kind gesture.
Also present at the event was GPL Public Relations Officer, Shevion Sears-Murray.
