Veteran farmer introducing agriculture to Linden secondary students

In tripartite scheme…
FARMER Yogeshwar Rambharrat last Monday started a farming project designed to help secondary schoolchildren in his home community of Linden.
The owner of Rambharrat’s Farming Supplies and Nursery will teach them  practical skills with working experience of more than 30 years.

With support from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Linden Enterprise Network (LEN), Rambharrat has decided to share his knowledge with the younger members of the community, in the hope of attracting them to agricultural pursuits.
At the start of the project Thursday, he told the gathering, at the Kara Kara Incubator, that he had seen many children leaving school each year with nothing to do and would help the dropouts.
Rambharrat said he would also encourage persons from Georgetown to learn, from him, how to apply nutrients,  use different soils, pesticides and weedicides.
Among those at the inauguration of the project were Regional Education Officer in Region 10 (Upper Demerara/Berbice), Mr. Claude Johnson; President of the Linden Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Basil Jaipaul and Elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mr. Vincent Whitehead.
In recognition of what Rambharrat will be doing, Whitehead noted that young people are the future of Guyana and even millionaires find pleasure in seeing something they have planted with their own hands yield produce.
Five secondary schools: Wisburg, New Silver City, Christianburg/Wismar, Wisburg Annexe and Linden Foundation have, so far, enrolled their students to benefit from the training to cultivate the best cash crops.
