City’s budget looks at broadening revenue base

Georgetown Mayor Hamilton Green, in an invited comment yesterday, said this year the City Hall’s budget will, at the end of the day, reflect a reality that spending can only be done based on what is collected. “The preparation of this year’s budget has taken on a new characteristic. We have discovered that the work is more complex and time consuming,” he said.
However, the Mayor made it clear that despite the delays, those involved in its preparation are working “feverishly.”
A presentation is expected to be made next Wednesday to address this year’s budget and Green affirmed that broadening City Hall’s revenue base is an area that is being looked at.
