This holiday is taking place in a world in which the struggle for justice between and within countries is continuing unabated.
Phagwah reminds us that such a struggle is noble and we must continue to rededicate ourselves to serving our people, defending and protecting their interests. It reminds us that we must intensify the battle against the evils of poverty so that all our people could realize their potentials.
Today we urge all of our citizens to let us work to ensure that we constantly improve the quality of life for all Guyanese. This is a noble task and we do it in the conviction that good will inevitably triumph over evil.
