AUBREY David (no address given) was yesterday remanded to prison on charges of assaulting and threatening his wife, Elgenia David, on Mash Day.
Before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the February 23 unlawful assault and using threatening language to the virtual complainant the same day, causing a breach of the peace.
The woman told the Court her husband constantly assaults her and she was enjoying the Mashramani celebrations when he assaulted her.
She said persons went to her rescue and after he realised that he could not harm her anymore, he knelt and threatened to murder her when she returns home.
Consequently, she said she became afraid for her life and did not go back to their house.
David has to be back in Court on March 4.
