Blackette House blank Carr House to win MHS Inter-House basketball final

BLACKETTE House emerged winners of the Mackenzie High School’s Inter-House basketball championship last Thursday  by scoring a lopsided, 70-23 victory against hapless Carr  House at the school’s basketball court.

Forward Sheldon Noel played a huge part in their win as he claimed 12 points, seven steals and two assists in a brilliant all-round performance.
After coasting 30-13 at halftime Blackette House accelerated and out-scored their opponents in the final period, 40-10, to finish without much of a challenge.

Shaquille Adams also had 12 points for the winners while Carr House’s best scorer was Elwyn Cameron with eight.

In the third place playoff game Cambridge House scored a  30-27 win following a 15-12 halftime scoreline as Dwight McKinnon and Kulrick Benjamin each netted eight points while Colin Babb with a game-high nine points and Alex English  added eight in a losing effort.

To reach the final in the four-house championship which began yesterday, Blackette House and Carr House won their  respective matches.

In the first game Cambridge House were  leading Carr House at halftime, 29-18, but Carr House rallied back to win 54-47 as Elwyn Cameron scored 18 points, Haydar London 14 and Dellon Campbell 10 for the winners.

Cambridge House’s best player was Kulrick Benjamin and Kyle Stewart with 16 points each.

In the other game defending champions Grant House were down against Blackette House 28-20 and lost eventually 60-45 as Sheldon Noel and Joel Garner with 14 points apiece, Parrish Cadogan 12 and Qincy Gasper 10 led the way for the winners.
In a losing cause Joel Webster got 14 and Shaquille Plato 10 for Carr House.
