PM’s motion enables Budget debate to last until next Monday

A motion by Prime Minister Samuel Hinds in the National Assembly yesterday to have the debate on the 2010 estimates of revenues and expenditure last for six days was unanimously approved. “Essentially this motion is for the suspension of the standing order that provides for five days for the debates,” he said.
The Prime Minister pointed out that six days of debate is also convenient.
The debates will end on Monday.
“We will have Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week to consider the estimates and conclude the budget debate process,” he said.
