THE Staff Association of the Government Technical Institute (GTI) will be meeting on Monday to discuss the rate of pay increase approved on Thursday by the Ministry of Education. This is according to the President of the Staff Association, Ms. Delphine Bakker, who added that correspondence confirming the increase was forwarded to the association from the office of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Major General (Rtd.) Norman McLean.
“The Principal, Mr. Chinedu Onwuzirike, forwarded a letter from the Chairman so a meeting will be called on Monday to discuss the specifics disclosed,” she said.
When asked to comment on the specifics, Bakker declined noting that she would comment after Monday’s meeting.
The proposal sent to the Ministry of Education called for non-graduate part time staffers were to be paid $1,000 per hour while the graduate and masters level part time lecturers were to be paid $1,200 and $1,800 respectively.
