The police are responsible for enforcing the law on tinted vehicles

I refer to a newspaper column by Mr. Freddie Kissoon, which appeared in the Kaieteur Newspaper dated Friday January 29, 2010 captioned “Khurshid Sattaur, the Police Commissioner playing tennis, and justice,” where the author questioned why Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) officials are registering heavily tinted vehicles at the Licence Revenue Office on Smith Street.
The GRA would like to remind the general public that the Licence Revenue Office does not monitor and approve the usage of Tint on vehicles. It is only responsible for facilitating the Reading of Tint on the glass of vehicles on request from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Tint Reading results is forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs for the relevant approval to be given by the Minister of Home Affairs.
It must be noted that if vehicles are imported into the country with factory tint, before processing the registration of the vehicle, the owner of the vehicle must make a formal request for use of tint to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Ministry of Home Affairs will make a formal request to the Licensed Revenue Office for the Tint Reading on the vehicle to be verified. The Tint Reading results is forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs for the relevant approval to be given by the Minister of Home Affairs.
