One remanded other granted self-bail in brothers assault case

TWO brothers charged with assaulting each other went separate ways after their appearance before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday.

Dwayne Forde, 24, of Lot 40 Roxanne Burnham Gardens, Georgetown, was remanded to prison and Mark Forde, 44, of the same address, was released on his own recognizance.

Both of them pleaded not guilty to having assaulted one another on February 3.

Mark told the Court his younger brother Dwayne, who had been imprisoned for four years on conviction for sodomising a nephew, would take friends to their home to smoke.

Mark said he tried talking to his sibling to stop smoking and get his life back on track but to no avail.

Dwayne admitted he had been in jail but claimed he changed since then.

He alleged that Mark stole his scissors and, because he found, the latter hit him with a bicycle bar.

The magistrate ordered for a probation report on the case and postponed it to February 26.
