FORMER calypsonian, the Mighty Raja and Banks DIH chairman Clifford Reis took centre stage at the Stag Beer-sponsored Medal Play Golf tournament on Sunday at Lusignan Golf Course.
Mohanlall ‘Santo’ Dinanauth was also in top form winning three of the special prizes on offer.
Mighty Raja recorded the best net of 66 playing in the 0-15 handicap flight and Reis carted off the 16-28 flight with a net score of 68 from a very competitive field of 44 golfers.
Mighty Raja playing off a handicap 10 had a gross 76 to end with a net 66.
In second position was Munaff Arjune playing off a handicap 7. He recorded a gross 75 to end with a net 68 while third position went to David Harry (handicap 14 gross 83 net 69).
Reis, who had seen an improvement in his game over the past two weeks, recorded a net 68 from a gross 85 playing off a 17 handicap.
Hemraj Kissoon (handicap 22) scored a gross 92 for a net 70 in securing the second position. He edged out the consistent Mark Lashley on a count-back.
Lashley also recorded a net 70 from a gross 94 playing off a 24 handicap.
Dinanauth continued to impress, winning prizes for the lowest gross of 76, longest drive on Number Three and Nearest to the Pin on hole number 8.
Ten players were also presented with hampers following a raffle.
Darshanie Yussuf, Public Relations Officer of Ansa McAl Ltd, local distributors of Stag Beer, congratulated the outstanding players and noted that her company was extremely pleased to sponsor the tournament and will continue its partnership with the Lusignan Golf Club.
Club captain Jerome Khan thanked the company for its continued support over the years and expressed confidence that the relationship between the two organisations will continue to grow.
Troy Cadogan, Ansa McAl Marketing Director, who participated in the tournament failed in last Sunday’s outing but promised to improve in the upcoming events.
Local recording artiste Tamika Marshall presented the prizes to the outstanding players. She was assisted by John Maikoo, Marketing Assistant, Stag Beer.
