FIFTY-SEVEN-YEAR-OLD Jack Singh, formerly of New Hope, East Bank Demerara, was killed in a road accident Sunday.

He was hit by a motor car which, reportedly, swerved from a parked vehicle.
Singh had returned to Guyana after living in the United States for many years and was staying in Georgetown but frequented his native village to visit relatives and was on a similar mission when he met his demise.
Police and the driver of the ill-fated car were at the scene for the continuing investigations.
Police said the fatality was recorded about 18:45 h when the pedestrian was struck by PKK 1632.

The victim was taken to Diamond Diagnostic Centre, also on East Bank Demerara, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Most of Singh’s relatives live overseas and are expected in the country shortly, said residents who heard a loud sound and rushed outside to find the victim’s lifeless body on the parapet.
He was barely alive when he was picked up, one of them said.
Meanwhile, Police Traffic Headquarters, at Eve Leary, in the city, said, for the new year, so far, five persons died in five road accidents.
