Police questioning suspects in Foulmouth, fisherman murders

POLICE are questioning three suspects, two in connection with the Boxing Day murder of a Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara, fisherman and the other about that of a woman at Foulmouth, Essequibo River.

The elderly father of the Lot 8 Bagotstown victim, Inshan Alli, 53, was arrested when he went to make a report after his son’s battered body was found not far from where he lived.

Another relative was held later.

The father, in his 70s and son had been imbibing alcohol and a loud argument had arisen between them before the latter was killed.

His head bore a gaping wound and the body had other marks of violence.

The man detained in the Foulmouth probe had gone into hiding since he allegedly committed the crime last week Monday night.

The deceased, Patricia Williams, 50, a boat operator was discovered partly submerged in the river, after having transported a group of men, including the accused killer, from Bartica to Foulmouth.

Subsequently, a relative saw her boat drifting and a search yielded her half nude corpse.

A post mortem examination revealed that Williams died of strangulation after having been sexually assaulted.
