Quarter-finals for Mayor‘s Birth Anniversary football tourney set for today

THE eight quarter-final matches in the Mayor Hamilton Green’s 75th Birth Anniversary Inter-club round-robin/knockout tournament will be played today at the Tucville ground.

Over $500 000 in cash incentives along with trophies are up for grabs and as such football fans can expect an evening of classical and entertaining displays from the 16 teams – all in pursuit of moving a step closer to the coveted $300 000 first prize and Champions’ trophy.

The opening encounter will be played at 18:00 h and will see an all-West Demerara cast as Crane play Uitvlugt and Uprising and Black Pearl square off.

Game 3 brings together Alpha United and Rich Boys at 19:00 h, with the ongoing Georgetown and West Demerara rivalry climaxing 30 minutes later when GDF play Seawall FC.

At 20:00 h Riddim Squad will meet Victoria Kings while immediately after the home team Fruta Conquerors entertain YMCA from 20:30 h.

Kick-off for the feature match on the card will be at 21:30 h when Pele clash with Flamingo. This will be preceded by BK International Western Tigers opposing Northern Rangers in the main supporting match-up.
