Lender, borrower for trial after confrontation over money

DEON Stewart, 23, of Lot 20 Dowding Street, Kitty and Samuel Fraser, 60, of Lot 204 Middle Street, North Cummingsburg, both Georgetown addresses, are to face trial January 5, on charges of assaulting each other to cause actual bodily harm.

Until then, Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson put them on $10,000 bail each.

It is alleged that, on December 17, Stewart unlawfully assaulted Fraser and, that same day, Fraser did similarly to Stewart.

Fraser pleaded guilty and claimed that Stewart, who had borrowed $8,000 from him, went to his home to collect some clothes but refused to repay the loan.

Fraser said, when he enquired about his money, Stewart threw a brick at him and he retaliated by ‘broadsiding’ him with a cutlass.

The magistrate entered a not guilty plea for Fraser before setting the date to try their cases.
