WITH much grief the Guyanese Organisation of Indigenous Peoples (GOIP) pays tribute to the memory of Minister Dr Desrey Fox.

Apart from being a stalwart researcher on Indigenous issues locally and beyond, the GOIP hails Dr Fox for her humility and willingness to assist ordinary persons in need. This was so profound when, unlike some, Dr Fox knew what the phrase “servant of the people” meant, since she was just about always easily reachable, while others are just about always hiding behind some Secretary or at some kind of “meeting”, aloof to the public they’re supposed to be serving.

The GOIP also notes Dr Fox’s many achievements on researching and documenting the very long history and culture of Guyana’s first peoples, and kudos are in order for this.

The GOIP extends condolences to Dr Fox’s bereaved relatives, the Waramadong community, the Akawaio Nation and local indigenous fraternity generally, and all who knew and loved her, on this truly solemn occasion.
