Emeka Enyiocha keeps christening for baby daughter

Emeka and Stella on their wedding day

NOLLYWOOD star actor, Emeka Enyiocha, who became a daddy for the first time in late May, recently held what we in Guyana call ‘a christening’ for his new-born baby girl, Adanna.

The child-dedication ceremony, which was held at the actor’s Surulere residence, was attended by the crème de la crème of Nollywood, among them Patience Ozokwor, Ernest Obi, Keppy Ekpeyong, Ashly Nwosu and KC Presh.

The elated new father — who said ‘I do’ last December to city lawyer, Stella Ugorji — was quoted as saying recently that Adanna, whose full name is Princess Adanna Matilda Enyiocha, is the most precious gift that God has ever given him.

“It is a great joy and gift. It is not easy for your wife to be pregnant for nine months, but giving birth to a beautiful child is what any man would cherish. I’m very happy,” Enyiocha said.

Asked what are his worst fears, now that he is a father, Emeka said:

“My worst fear is not being able to mould my children, my family in the right direction that when you see them, you identify where they are coming from…That is my worst fear. And that is why I do everything, with the help of my beautiful wife, to make sure that things are done properly, by giving them what I ought to give them while growing up, though I never had the opportunity or the privilege of having those things when I was a kid. I want to train them to have African values. That is what I pray that they become; that is what I pray that I give to them; not necessarily financial gifts, but moral values; send them to good schools; make sure that I put up a foundation for them to follow. I believe in training a child in the way of the Lord, and when he grows up, he would never depart from it.”

Asked whether he plans on having more children, Emeka said just one, even if it’s another girl. “I want to be able to also have fun with my life,” he said, adding: “…it doesn’t really matter to me if it is a guy or gal. People attach too much importance to that… I don’t care about who bears my name… What matters is what you have done to make a mark.”
