HINDUS will be observing Janam Ashtmi tomorrow which signifies the descent of Lord Krishna to earth, a release from the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha said

“The descent of Lord Krishna was influenced and persuaded by the existence, if not the predominance of Adharma. In simple the coming of Krishna was to reverse the developing Adharmic trends and firmly established conditions of stability, peace and bliss with great vision and dexterity. What is more, the course he pursued was both practical and scientific. He confronted with manifested courage the most adverse situation, as he faced the worst elements with determination to transform and change things and bring them in conformity with Dharmic values,” the release noted

It added that the world has not been stagnant and Hinduism projects it as the four yugas or ages. In Satyug and Treta Dharmic norms and values were respected. The custodians of Shastras were men not only of displine and scholarship, but men of unblemished integrity. The Dwapar yuga or copper age signaled the reversal of Dhramic values and showed great signs of the emergence of hate, greed, enmity and jealousy. These qualities overwhelmed the life, attitude and behaviour of the Kauravas led by Duryodhan.

According to the release those qualities provoked the Mahabarat war. Shri Krishna is best remembered for the role he played in that fiasco. It is out of His spontaneous thoughts the Bhagwad Gita emerged, a gem in the unfathomable Hindu library. This book encompasses fundamental Hindu discipline, analysis and guidelines which will remain relevant for all periods and vicissitudes in the life. It condemns reluctance and in decision, depreciated considerations premised on sentiments and emotions.

The Gita emphasised a life of dynamic actions and showed no respect for passive and senile reactions. Krishna in this mighty discourse reaffirmed the injunctions of the Vedas, Unpanishaads and Shastras and called for a life of selflessness, honesy, courage and determination. It warns against wandering in the dreary jungles of despondency and frustration and urges a life of hope, confidence and optimism, the release said
