I read in your Sunday July 5, 2009 edition an interesting letter with the name our former Chief Magistrate Mr. K. A. Juman- Yassin affixed at the bottom. My interest in the letter however is not about the donation of the miles to persons in need, but rather about the distance as stated, which I’m sure are unintentional mistakes.
The letter states for example: “when you travel for instance to Trinidad you get seven hundred and six miles, as is the distance from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA( to Piarco Airport.” This is incorrect; the distance between the two airports is 350 miles. I suppose what the learned gentleman intended to say was that distance is the round trip distance. The same mistake is again made with other distances between airports. My only reason for penning this missive is to prevent misinformation from getting to our children and is in no way intended to embarrass the gentleman.
