ECD Reunion football tournament kicks off on Saturday

FOOTBALL fans can expect three weeks of intense, competitive football as play in Victoria Kings/Cool Crew Promotions East Coast Reunion Football competition kicks off this weekend at the Victoria Community Centre ground, East Coast Demerara.

The tournament is a knockout competition which is organised by Victoria Kings Football Club in collaboration with Chico Ramas Gas Station, Pretty Love Family, Team Guyana/USA and Cool Crew Promotions.

Sixteen teams from the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) and East Coast Demerara Football Association (ECDFA) will battle for top honours.

A total of $850 000 in cash and prizes will be up for grabs. The opening ceremony and march past will be held at Victoria Community Centre ground and immediately after, the Golden Stars will tackle Ann’s Grove. At 20:00 h Victoria Kings will take on GFC.

On Sunday the competition moves to BV Ground for another double-header with Bakewell Buxton Stars taking on Western Tigers from 18:00 h. In the feature game from 20:00 h BV/Triumph United will challenge Fruta Conquerors.

At Wednesday, Mahaica Determinators will do battle with Sunburst Camptown from 18:00 h while at 20:00 h GDF collide with old foe Pele. On July 23 the tournament will be at Plaisance ground from 18:00 h. East Champions Buxton United will tackle Beacons and at 20:00 h Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United will take on Plaisance United.

The quarter-final matches are billed for Plaisance and Victoria grounds; the semi-final matches are scheduled for GFC ground and the grand final will be at the Plaisance ground on August 2.

The official launching for the competition will be done tomorrow at Upscale Restaurant and Bar 11:30 h.

The teams involved in the competition are: Alpha United, Campton, GDF, Pele, Fruta Conquerors, GFC, Western Tigers, Beacons, Victoria Kings, Bakewell Buxton Stars, Buxton United, Ann’s Grove, Golden Stars, Mahaica Determinators, BV/Triumph United and Plaisance United.
