THE Ministry of Education has begun a series of workshops, targeting primary school students as it seeks to implement initiatives to enhance the learning capabilities and improve the literacy and numeracy levels of children. These workshops have been organized for school administrators and classroom practitioners across Guyana with the aim to analyze the data obtained from the diagnostic evaluations administered at Grades Two and Four.
The subject areas to be addressed are Mathematics, English Language and Reading.
The objectives of this training programme are to emphasize the importance of national assessments, identify a variety of teaching strategies and activities and train participants to use them and to provide the participants with the knowledge and skills to administer the assessments and to interpret the individual school reports.
The workshops commenced earlier this week and will be completed at the end of the August vacation.
