TWENTY-FOUR-YEAR-OLD Hatty Blackman, of Lot 233 Buxton Front, has been charged with uttering a forged document and conspiracy to commit a felony.
The former student of Bygeval Secondary School, also on East Coast Demerara, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to both charges.
One allegation against the defendant is that, between June 1, 2008 and March 30, 2009, with intent to defraud, she conspired with persons unknown to forge one Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) certificate in her favour, knowing it to be false.
Particulars of the second offence said, on March 30 last, with intent to defraud, she uttered the forgery to Police Constable Coleen John.
Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram, prosecuting, said Blackman was seeking employment with the Guyana Police Force (GPF) when she presented the fake document.
The Prosecutor said the Ministry of Education, subsequently, made checks and discovered the forgery.
Blackman was ordered to post $95,000 bail on each charge, until July 29.
