Robbery victim recalls suffering blackout

A ROBBERY victim Wednesday recounted, in Court, how her attacker squeezed her throat until she suffered a blackout.

Nandanie Bissoondial told Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson that it happened on Albert Street.

Charged with the offence is Trevor Garraway, 37, of Lot 36 Bent Street, also in Georgetown, who denied that, on June 29, he robbed the virtual complainant of a shoulder bag, a cell phone and gold jewellery, all valued $62,500 and, at the time, immediately before or after, used personal violence on her.

Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram, prosecuting, said Garraway had previously spent three years in jail on conviction for a drug offence and had several more brushes with the law in the past.

The Prosecutor said it seems that the defendant committed the crime against Bissoondial just after being released from prison and the booty was recovered on his person after public-spirited persons apprehended him.
Garraway was remanded to prison until July 8.
