Lawyer defending woman links larceny charge to affair

ANITA Persaud, 36, of Lot 315 Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday, charged with simple larceny.

She pleaded not guilty to the July 1 offence, particulars of which said she stole $78,000 from Andy Wilson.

But her lawyer, Mr. Adrian Thompson claimed the circumstances of the case have to do with an affair the defendant had with the virtual complainant.
Persaud was granted $20,000 bail and faces trial on July 30.
