At Berbice Assizes…
JUSTICE Winston Patterson has threatened to issue Bench warrants for the arrest of persons who were summoned to serve as jurors but chose not to attend Court.

The judge issued the warning at the Berbice Assizes Wednesday after the Registrar informed him of 13 absentees.

Looking at the name cards of those absent, Justice Patterson said it was of grave concern to him that such persons did not present themselves.

The judge reminded those present that they are a part of the administration of justice, judges of facts and are tasked with returning verdicts based on the evidence heard in the courtroom .

Justice Patterson named the abscondees as Chautram Persaud, Audwin Abel, Brian White, Mohamed Farik, Patrick Dindial, Khemrajie Anantram, Floyd Campbell, Rajendra Veerapen, Wilbert Thom, Navin Somrah, Rupert Ramroop, Latchmin Permaul and Neeta Narain.
