THE ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has condemned the ousting of Honduran President, Jose Manuel Zelaya, by a coup and is calling on governments in the region and beyond not to recognise the military regime.
A statement by the party said: “President Zelaya is the democratically-elected President of Honduras. An undemocratic process of installing administrative bodies affects development and often leads to bloodshed and inevitable attacks on the people.”
It added: “The PPP calls on governments in the region and beyond not to recognise the military regime, to condemn this coup, and we call for the immediate reinstatement of the democratic government of President Zelaya. We extend our solidarity to the people of Honduras.”
