Surprising only one noise offender listed in G Division

PLEASE permit me to make a comment and observation of the Ministry of Home Affairs published names and address of noise offenders June 9, 2009. The Ministry has made checks at the said locations on specified days and times and has verified the validity and justification of the complaints.

Mr. Editor, I am surprised that only one name was listed for “G” Division although numerous letters appeared in the media and sent to the Minister of Home Affairs for his intervention including mine.

On February 27, 2009 I received a letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Re: Noise Nuisance) your letter of February 6, 2009 is being addressed by the Hon.Minister of Home Affairs for immediate action, to date no charges has being instituted against this perpetrator and his name is not listed as a noise offender although this was verified by constables Ganesh and Subha.

Transparency is built on the free flow of information processess, institutions and information are directly accessible to those concerned with them, and enough information is provided to understand and monitor them only then the public will have confidence in the Guyana Police Force.

All men and women should have a voice in decision-making, either directly or through legitimate intermediate institutions that represent their interests, Such as freedom of speech. The Guyana Police Force is headed by the Commissioner of Police and overseen by the Minister of Home Affairs. Leaders and the public have a broad and long-term perspective on good governance and human development, along with a sense of what is needed.

Mr. Editor, we are now left to wonder as to how these investigations were conducted.
